About UGA's Go Green Initiative
The University of Georgia is a known leader in the fields of environmental and public health, ecology, environmental design and research. As the Physical Plant Division is the caretaker of the University, it should be our goal to develop a partnership between the PPD and campus’ various sustainable measures. The PPD Sustainability Initiative will be a professional group focused on making UGA a leader in environmental protection and sustainable measures for our future generations.

The intent is to provide the best outcomes for the human environment and the natural environment both now and into the indefinite future.
What is the purpose of Sustainability?
• Enhance public relations by using environmentally sound work practices
• Improve indoor air quality (IAQ) by using eco-friendly chemicals and cleaning programs
• Reduce emissions (vehicle and industrial)
• Improve water quality by developing a Storm water Master Plan
• Decrease cost for energy production by using energy saving measures
• Decrease overall campus waste stream by using recycled products, subsequent recycling and trash compaction systems.

Green Cleaning Program Summary The purpose of the PPD Services Department "Green Cleaning Program" is to enhance the university community in several ways. To include: |
• Improve indoor air quality (IAQ) by reducing chemical and particulate exposure.
• Decrease the number of cleaning agents (325 various cleaning products to 3 per building).
• Decrease cleaning expenditures - Cost analysis per building (Vendor - 20% savings per building).
• Enhance public relations by using environmentally sound chemical agents.
• Establish centralized purchasing to one point of contact (PPD Warehouse).
• Reduce chemical hazard exposures for PPD Building Services employees.
•Update and simplify "Right to Know" Program requirements.
